The history of Bolier
Bolier was founded in 1949 and has been the official representative of MaK marine engines in the Benelux and the Netherlands Antilles since 1958. In addition, we are a service partner for Berg Propulsion and Napier products.
We service and repair MaK marine engines, Napier & KBB turbines and Berg Propulsion systems. We do this in Dordrecht and on location, worldwide.
Our subsidiary Moteurs Marine Méditerranée in Marseille is the official MaK representative for France and the French-speaking countries of North Africa.
Our history
1949
Bolier was founded in 1949. That is when Cees Bolier bought Machinefabriek Avontuur, located in the centre of Dordrecht and renamed it: Machinefabriek Bolier.
1955
In 1955, the first MaK marine engine was installed. 3 years later, in 1958, Bolier became the official representative of MaK marine engines in the Benelux and the Netherlands Antilles.
1965
In 1965 Bolier moved to its current location, with more than enough room for further expansion: the 2nd Merwedehaven (Harbour number D563).
1999
In 1999, Bolier officially became a Caterpillar / MaK Service Excellence Center and in the following year (2000) it was certified as a Certified Rebuild Center for remanufacturing remanufactured MaK products.
2005
In 2005 we proudly become part of the Pon family business. One of the largest trade and service organizations in the Netherlands, with a great diversity of activities. In the same year, Bolier takes over Moteurs Marine Méditerranée in Marseille. MaK Méditerranée is the official MaK representative for France and
2017
We have been an official partner of Berg Propulsion since 2017 and we supply parts & service for all propulsion installations of this company.
2019
In 2019, we launched the Engenius online platform. It is the ultimate online place to easily and quickly order new MaK parts and have 24/7 insight into all service projects and documents of your MaK engine(s).
Actuality
Largest specialised MaK workshop in North-Western Europe
Our workshop in Dordrecht, with a quay no less than 140 meters long, is not only the largest specialised MaK workshop in North-West Europe. We also work on other medium speed marine engines there.
Repairs, maintenance and complete overhauls are performed quickly and effectively, as our skilled mechanics have an extensive inventory of new and used parts. This way, we limit both expenses and your ship’s downtime to what is strictly necessary.
Are you unable to dock at our facilities? Then we’ll just come to you! Wherever you are, you can count on us. We take care of it.

Caterpillar Motoren GmbH & Co. KG has awarded Boiler the highest dealer qualification (platinum) in the Marine Service Assessment.
Bolier is also a Napier-approved supplier and repair and overhaul partner for Napier turbochargers and Napier turbo spare parts.
